This piece, which I painted in TwistedBrush, is a cover for a novel called "Dewthor" by Phil Hartnett (my Dad). My landscape art experience was limited so it was a bit tricky, plus the unusual lighting made it hard to find reference photos. I ended up using Microsoft Flight Simulator X to give me an idea of how to do the mountains! The low lighting angle was necessary because I wanted to cast that long sword shadow; the novel has some Christian allegory in it for those who choose to read it that way, and the unrealistically large cross-shaped shadow is meant to hint at that.
